Come se nonbastassero le radio e chemioterapie, Amalia dovevaaffrontare lo sfruttamento economico da parte dimedici che sono stati di fronte anziché a fianco alei. Come se non bastasse il dolore, doveva subirel'avidità delle cliniche private e le lunghe attesenelle file dei vari uffici assicurativi statali, acaccia di un bollo.Amalia se ne è andata il Venerdì 25 Maggio 2007. Das ist für Amalia«Der Patient hat das Recht auf Achtung seiner Person und seiner menschlichen Würde”.(Nach Paragraph 47, Gesetz 2071 / 1992)«Damit die Scharlatane die Ausnahme werden, und nicht mehr die Regel sind…»(Amalia Kalyvinou, 1977-2007)Im Alter von acht Jahren haben bei Amalia die Schmerzen eingesetzt. Obwohl sie wiederholt viele Ärzte aufgesucht hat und in verschiedenen Krankenhäusern behandelt wurde, hat niemand das gutartige Neurinom an ihrem Bein diagnostizieren können. Siebzehn Jahre später hat Amalia erfahren, dass sie an Krebs leidet.Die nächsten fünf Jahre hat Amalia nicht nur gegen den Krebs kämpfen müssen, sondern auch gegen ein pathogenes Gesundheitswesen, das vorzieht die Augen in Anbetracht des “Umschlägchens” (Geld, das viele Ärzte in öffentlichen Krankenhäusern direkt oder indirekt vom Patienten oder dessen Angehörigen verlangen) zu schließen und darauf besteht, mit bürokratischen Verfahren zu obstruiren. Außer der Strahlen –und Chemotherapie, musste Amalia auch die finanzielle Ausbeutung durch Ärzte erdulden, die nicht an ihrer Seite standen. Außer den Schmerzen, musste sie auch die Habgier der Privatkliniken und die Strapaze bei den Krankenkassen um einen Stempel erdulden.Amalia ist am 25. Mai 2007 aus dem Leben geschieden. Sie war erst 30 Jahre alt.Bevor sie uns verließ, ist sie noch dazugekommen, ihre Erfahrungen durch ihren blog mit uns zu teilen. Unter der Internet-Adresse http://fakellaki.blogspot.com, hat die junge Philologin namentlich die Ärzte angezeigt, die sie hat bestechen müssen, und gleichzeitig diejenigen gelobt, die sich dafür entschieden haben, den von ihnen geleisteten Hippokrates-Eid zu ehren. Ihre Aussage hat tausende von Menschen bewegt, die ihr bis zum Schluss Beistand geleistet haben in ihrem ungleichen Kampf.«Amalias Ziel war es, ihre Geschichte zu erzählen, um dadurch soviele Menschen wie möglich zu sensibilisieren und deren Gewissen zu wecken. Vor allem wollte sie zeigen, dass es Arten des Widerstands gibt gegenüber der Willkür und der Macht der gewissenlosen und rücksichtslosen Ärzte, aber auch gegenüber den Bürokraten des Gesundheitswesens».(Dikaia Tsavari und Georgia Kalyvinou)Nach Paragraph 77, Gesetz 2071 / 1992, gilt, was die Ärzte des Nationalen Gesundheitswesens betrifft, folgendes als Disziplinarvergehen:«Die Bestechlichkeit und vor allem die Annahme von Geldbeträgen sowie die Annahme jeglicher anderer Vermögensleistungen für ärztliche Leistung jeglicher Art».Amalia Kalyvinou hat für Belange gekämpft, die in einem modernen europäischen Staat als selbstverständlich gelten. Leider sind diese Belange in Griechenland nicht so selbstverständlich. Amalias Bemühen fortsetzend, protestieren wir öffentlich und verlangen:· Dass unmittelbar Maßnahmen vom Staat getroffen werden, damit die “Umschlägchen” und die Ungerechtigkeit die sie beim Umgang mit den Patienten verursachen ein Ende nehmen· Dass der Staatsmechanismus flexibler wird, damit wir nicht wieder Opfer zu beklagen haben wegen zeitaufwendigen bürokratischen Verfahren.· Dass schärfere Kontrollen bezüglich der Verstrickung der Pharmaindustrie und dem ärztlichem Establishment stattfinden.· Dass die vorhandene, nicht genutzte Infrastruktur der Krankenhäuser genutzt wird und dass es eine dauerhafte und umfassende wissenschaftliche Weiterbildung für alle Ärzte und Pfleger des Nationalen Gesundheitswesens gibt.Schluss mit der Heuchelei der Regierenden, die es hinnehmen, dass die Ärzte von den Patienten bestochen werden, statt dass sie angemessen vom Staat entlohnt werden.· Schluss mit den “Umschlägchen”· Schluss mit der Bürokratie· Schluss mit der VerspottungWir haben ein Recht auf kostenlose und wirkunsvolle Gesundheitsfürsorge. Every patient has the right to being respected and maintaining his dignity." (Greek law, article 47, L.2071/1992) "Quacks should be the exception, you guys, not the norm…" (Amalia Kalyvinou , 1977-2007) Since the age of 8, Amalia Kalyvinou started having pains. Despite her numerous visits to doctors and several admissions to hospitals, no-one managed to diagnose her in time with the benign neurinoma of her lower extremity, which was the actual diagnosis at that point. 17 years later, Amalia was told that the neurinoma had transformed by then into a malignant tumour.For the next 5 years, Amalia not only had to fight with the cancerous disease and amputation, but also with a corrupt Greek National Health System: it ignores (by choice) the ongoing patient-to-doctor bribery and insists on time-consuming bureaucratic methods and practices. Besides radiotherapy and chemotherapy, Amalia had to face the financial exploitation by doctors that stood opposite to rather than by her side. On top of her pain, she had to endure the greediness of private clinics and the exhaustingly long waiting queues of the health insurance system, in order to get legal approval for some ridiculously low financial compensation.Amalia passed away on Friday, May the 25th, 2007. She was just 30 years old.Before dying, she managed to document her experience and share it with us in her blog http://fakellaki.blogspot.com. The promising literature graduate named in there each and every one of the doctors she had to bribe, praising at the same time the ones that honoured the Hippocratic Oath. Her testimony moved thousands of people that stood by her side all the way to the end. "Amalia's main aim was to tell her story, so that she could awaken as many people and as many consciences as possible. She mainly wanted to show that there are ways to resist not only the self-regulation and authority of dishonest and heartless doctors, but also the bureaucrats of the Health System."(Dikaia Tsavari & Georgia Kalyvinou – Amalia's mother & sister)According to the Greek law, it is considered a major disciplinary offence for the doctors of the Greek National Health System to: "Accept bonus and especially any compensation or property grant, for any medical service provided.” Amalia Kalyvinou fought for things that are taken for granted in a modern European country.
